It’s Halloween and Planet French has a variety of spooky and fun content for your French students.

Episode 247, teaches trick or treating covid directives, and teaches the vocabulary of candies in French. Students are invited to vote on their favorite Halloween treats.

Episode “Les Zombies” is the hit short, kid-friendly film about zombies (in easy French). In the video “Le magasin d’Halloween”, we visit a Halloween store and learn the vocab of costumes and much more.

In the episode “10,000 zombies”, we interview zombies in Montreal (Hey, it’s culture plus zombies!).

In the episode “La maison de Steven King”, we visit the famous author’s home town and take a tour of a haunted house.

In this Halloween episode, 1-Students learn about some directives for trick or treating this year as covid lingers, and 2-Students learn some French vocabulary around candies and are asked to vote on their favorite candies, in French, after a selection of Halloween treats are presented by a French buccaneer.

Halloween is around the corner. Here are 2 fun zombie videos: one with subtitles, the other without. In this adventure, Carl thinks he saw real zombies, but his pals don’t believe him.

Then he tries to prove he actually saw real zombies, and things get “complicated”.

In the first part of this short video in easy French, we kick off in front of Pfizer’s headquarters. The pharma is in talks with Health Canada to get its vaccine approved for 5 to 11-year-olds. We discussed the pros and cons and invite the students to participate, in French.

In the second part of the video, we show that Summer has now changed into Fall. We discuss and SHOW the signs of Fall. After some modelling, we ask students to draft a short list of the seasons and of visible signs that help differentiate between the seasons. There’s a handy starter chart at the end of the video. This episode starts off with the Covid situation in Alberta. It compares active cases between the provinces based on a Statistics Canada map, but there is hope:

New treatments are being developed. Scientists are using antibodies taken from lamas (yes, the animal), and making nanoparticles they use to fight the virus with.

Planet French actually goes on site to meet lamas and show our gratitude. Chalk one more point for biodiversity!

The episode concludes with students marching for the climate in Ontario and in other provinces during “Fridays for the future” marches.
